Diamondhyphen;anvil cells combined with a video image processing system provide a simple tool for measuring pressurendash;volume relations of small solid samples under high pressure. The feasibility of the technique is demonstrated for glassy Se and crystalline InSb. Accuracy evaluated for linearhyphen;scale measurements is approximately plusmn;0.5percnt;.
