Indications of continuous spinal anaesthesia (CSA) are reviewed. Continuous spinal and epidural anaesthesia have been compared in different types of surgery. Cauda equina syndrome may be associated with CSA, but it can be avoided by taking appropriate precautions, as described in the article.
