TiO_2-coated hydroxyapatite single crystals wereprepared by hydrolysis of Ti-bearing dicalcium phosphatepowder. On the surface of the TiO_2-coated hydroxyapatitesingle crystals, TiO_2 regions and hydroxyapatite regions canfunction as photocatalysts and adsorbents for organiccontaminants, respectively, allowing simultaneousdecomposition of organic contaminants by the photocatalysis ofTiO_2 under irradiation. Therefore, the TiO_2-coatedhydroxyapatite single crystals can favorably be applied forantibacterial applications and environmental purification.
