More than five years have passed since automotive metal stamper Laneko Engineering Co., Fort Washington, PA, expanded in-house capabilities by developing its own automated system to install self-clinching fasteners during stamping. Laneko's equipment eliminated the need for secondary operations and accelerated production output.This year brought a new long-term automotive-stamping project specified with different parts, and Laneko had to decide whether to build another system in-house to handle the job, or turn to an outside supplier for an in-die setup to feed and install fasteners into a progressive die.
