We consider geometric and material nonlinearities when studyingnumerically the transient three-dimensional elastic deformationsof a plate with piezoceramic elements perfectly bonded to itstop and bottom surfaces, and analyze the effect of the shape andthe size of the piezoceramic actuators on increasing thebuckling load of the plate. The applied compressive edge loadis assumed to increase linearly with time and the plate is takento have buckled when the maximum transverse deflection at apoint equals three times the plate's thickness.
