Perfect weather and a sense of op-timism about the economy marked the opening of the last Interstoff Asia International Fabric Show, held in the Hong Kong Convention Exhibition Centre on October 7-9. In its 16 years of existence this event has seen many changes in the clothing industry. The mood was indicative of an upturn in business, after SARS "and everything", hence the exhibition floors reflected the new turn in the industry's fortunes. Over 350 textile manufacturers, suppliers and designers displayed their collections at the exhibition, occupying some 12,000 m~2 of space. Over 12,000 buyers from a total of 69 countries attended the event, a slight increase over 2002. The organisers noted that casual and sports wear label operations represented at the event included Bossini, Banana Republic, Bodyglove, Eddie Bauer, Esprit, French Connection, The Gap, H M, Levi Strauss, Liz Claiborne, Next, Nike, Old Navy, Quiksilver, Sears, Seafolly, Etam, Fila and others. High-end labels such as Donna Karan and Paul Smith were represented, as was the bodywear/lingerie sector by labels including Jockey, Triumph and War-naco.
