Trichomes in persimmon and mango leaves are described. In all examined persimmon cultivars, trichomes were of the capitate type. Anatomical differences were noted between the cultivar #x201C;Triumph#x201D; (of uncertain origin) and four Japanese cultivars with regard to size, shape, and number of the stalk cells. The trichomes in three mango cultivars were of the peltate type and were anatomically alike. The density of the persimmon trichomes was more than twice that of the mango trichomes. The differences between the persimmon cultivars, as well as a special feature of the mango trichomes, are considered to be of taxonomical value.
