The past hundred years have brought about many changes. From technological change and sociological change, businesswomen and their acceptance into the American and International workforce has been a long, strenuous struggle for all those involved. Great strides have been made, but there is still a long way to go. According to a study conducted by Catalyst, a New York-based research organization that focuses on women's workplace issues, women fill only 11 percent of the officer positions in the nation's largest corporations. A more startling statistic reports that 94 percent of all senior level executives are male, as are 84 percent of all professional employees in general. (Alonzo, 2002).
