This paper deals with the behaviour of hypersonic wind tunnelsdiffusers at low Reynolds numbers. The phenomena that occur in thediffusers at relatively low Reynolds numbers are particularlycritical Due to the interactions between shock waves and the largeboundary layers present in the long throat, Which can reduce themaximum recovery pressure and therefore the efficiency of thediffuser. The aim Of the present paper is to correlate the resultsobtained by numerical simulations of the diffusers with Theexperimental results, obtained using a high enthalpy blow down arcjet facility. The numerical and Experimental results are in agreementand show that, for the range of Reynolds number investigated, theDiffuser efficiency is smaller compared to the values determined forsimilar diffusers operating at larger Reynolds numbers.
