The booth of The Minster Machine Co., Minster, OH, housed the new 220-ton Amada SDE2025 digital electric servo press (right), as well as Minster's new MCFL compact feed line (below). The slide-motion-control capabilities of the direct-drive servo allow stampers "to perform work not possible in a conventional mechanical press," say Minster officials. Control features include an 8.4-in. color touchscreen, alarm history and preventive-maintenance information; built in signature tonnage monitoring and die protection is optional. The unit houses eight preset motion-curve profiles and a patent-pending "pulse" motion that optimizes deep-draw performance. The 53-hp high-torque low-rpm servo motor allows deep drawing as slowly as 1 stroke/ min. Stroke length, 9.8 in.; maximum speed range at full stroke, 40 strokes/min. (97 strokes/min. at 50-mm stroke). The bolster measures 57 by 33.4 in.
