A rocking furnace is described that permits variable agitation of melts prior to crystal growth. The design permits adjustment of furnace inclination, variation of oscillation frequency and amplitude, and rotation of the furnace into a vertical position. The fabrication of an explosionhyphen;proof furnace and samplehyphen;mounting procedure are also described.
