The ISO 9000 series of international quality standards was first published in 1987. Five basic quality system documents were released. Since their introduction to a somewhat questioning user base, these standards have become one of the most significant influences on the advance of the global quality movement. Now, most business organizations with international undertakings or intentions are well aware of these standards. Many organizations are learning more about these documents and their application.
