On March 29, PMA's lobbyists met with officials from the Chinese government to discuss concerns over currency manipulation, intellectual-property theft, illegal sub sidies and other trade violations. Zhu Guangyao, assistant minister at the Ministry of Finance, led the Chinese delegation during the meeting that lasted nearly 90 min. PMA stated unequivocally that until China can present a concrete plan to enact free-market reforms, particularly realignment of its currency, PMA will continue to push for passage of forceful legislation to address the current crisis. PMA explained that the United States and China are undeniably partners in trade, but, as partners, a better understanding of what reforms China is willing to make, and when, is needed.
