摘要

The corrosion behavior of various kinds of stainless steels was investigated in a high-temperature and high-pressure methanol solution containing chloride ions for the selection of a reactor material for a decomposition system using subcriti-cal or supercritical methanol. The anodic polarization behavior of mild steel, Types 430 (UNS S43000), 316L (UNS S31603), and 310S (UNS S31008) stainless steels (SS), and Alloy C-276 (UNS N10276) was investigated in a deaerated, anhydrous methanol solution (water content: <0.05 wt percent) containing 0.42 wt percent lithium chloride (LiCl) at 323 KAPPA. Only Alloy C-276 exhibited a passive region, and Type 316L SS exhibited the best corrosion resistance among the stainless steels. A comparison of Type 316L SS with Alloy C-276 was made using corrosion potential (E_(corr)) measurements at 323 K to 473 KAPPA, anodic polarization measurements at 423 KAPPA and 473 KAPPA, and surface morphology observation. E_(corr) decreased and a broad passive region was observed in the anodic polarization at more than 423 KAPPA. At 473 KAPPA, both alloys exhibited similar polarization curves. The similarity indicated that corrosion resistance of Alloy C-276 was close to that of Type 316L SS.
