Johann Heinrich Fussli, who was born in Zurich and died in London, was a painter and art reviewer, and worked in Switzerland, Italy, and England.This painting, titled "Kate's Madness" and exhibited at the Goethe Museum of Frankfurt, Germany, shows a young lady with goiter and exophtalmus; probably, the lady was not crazy, but she was thyrotoxic with psychiatric symptoms, mimicking madness.This is one of the few paintings showing a thyrotoxic patient with Graves' ophtalmopathy.
