Mixes rival fresh bagels in new product intros. Bread mixes quick loaves and machine mixes— were all the rage at the Fancy Food Show a few years ago. But it was bagel mania at this year's winter gathering in San Diego. The quick bread companies, suchas The Lollipop Tree and its sister Daily Bread Co., Portsmouth, N.H., and Wanda's, Lincoln, Neb., are extending their lines to include bagel mixes. The Lollipop Tree launched traditional varieties including Toasted Onion, Cinnamon Raisin and Deli Plain. Ten-ounce boxes make about six bagels and retail for 1.92 dollar.
