The term "life" has so many meanings. Life is a cereal, a board game, a now-defunct magazine. Exuberance, animation, something to be celebrated. Cherie Steinberg Cote's photography captures people celebrating life-their expressions and their feelings at a moment in time. "My work is all about life. It always has been," says Steinberg Cote. "I started out as a photojournalist and traveled the world taking pictures of people. Now I consider myself more of an artist who tries to bring out the best in people and in their relationships with one another." After receiving a Canadian grant to document life abroad, Steinberg Cote visited more than 40 countries over seven years. "I was just 25, but I had always planned to travel the world and see its people. It helped me become who I am today," she says. And who she is now is a wedding photographer in Los Angeles. After years of being a photojournalist and working as a Getty Images photographer, wedding photography was a refreshing change of pace. "I was living in Denver, Colorado, and I started to see a fresh, cool kind of wedding photography. I began shooting weddings with Greg Harring and Grant Oakes, who just took me under their wings. Weddings turned out tc be a really fun thing to do."
