In 2015, one year before MetalForming launched its Women of Excellence awards, women in manufacturing jobs weren't feeling as positive about their industry as they are today. A study by Deloitte, the Manufacturing Institute and APICS, serves as proof: 1. Compared to 12 percent in 2015, 29 percent of women in 2017 said that their school systems "actively or somewhat encourages female students to pursue a career in the manufacturing industry." 2. Compared to 24 percent in 2015, 42 percent of women in 2017 were now "ready to encourage their daughters or female family members to pursue careers in manufacturing." 3. Over the last five years, 58 percent have "observed marked or some positive changes in their industry's attitude towards female professional employees."
