Robots manning press lines is old hat at Oneda Corp. What's new is how the precision stamper quadrupled productivity of its robotic press lines without adding equipment, while simultaneously trimming its workforce. From its origins in 1988 and through three expansions since, the Oneda Corp. plant in Columbus, GA, has been a testament to the opportunities that robots present to metal stampers. Boasting fast cycle times, flexibility and quick line changeover, plant management can't fathom what life might be like without its robotic transfer setups. Within its 133,000-sq.-ft. facility, including 100,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space, 103 team members keep seven robotic-transfer lines and six progressive-die presses operating in concert.
