AbstractShifts have been observed in the elution volumes of solutions of polystyrene, polybutadiene, and mixtures of the two in gel permeation chromatography using tetrahydrofuran as solvent. Such shifts are examined in terms of the effect on the hydrodynamic volumes of concentration, of molecular weight, and of the presence of an incompatible polymer. Suitable concentration ranges to minimize these shifts have been found.
