Automation of the deburring process can increase the productivity of machining operations. Off-hand deburring with knives and files introduces nonvalue-added labor to the manufacturing process and creates potential quality and consistency problems. To automate the process, machine shops can implement in-machine deburring in CNC machines running nylon-abrasive-filament (NAF) brushes. The high filament density and robust construction of the brushes provide aggressive deburring action, even for difficult-to-deburr hard metal alloys, as well as long life and simple integration into the machining process. The effectiveness of the brushes is further enhanced by their ability to rotate in both directions.
