Thirty-two species of spores and acritarchs were recovered from the Carboniferous coal-bearing sandstones (Abu Thora Formation) of southwestern Sinai (Egypt). The obtained microflora restricts the formation to the Upper Vis#xE9;an Stage. These sporomorphs exhibit apparent similarity to late Vis#xE9;an palynomorphs recently recorded from the subsurface of the extreme western part of Egypt. Three acritarchs and the miospore generaDibolisporites, Acinosporites, Apiculatisporites, ApiculatisporisandAnaplanisporitesare identified for the first time from the paralic Carboniferous rocks of Sinai.
