The standard methods for examination of water quality have been revised by the JAWA (Japan Water Works Association). Some methods utilizing GC/MS (combined technique of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry) have been added as new standard methods. This report describes the newly added methods, together with our comments on them. It also refers to the introduction of GC/MS systems to the examination of tap water.
