MNdustries, a 40,000-sq.-ft. full-service sheetmetal fabricator near Atlanta, GA, once was known primarily for custom powder coatings. But once it began investing in sheetmetal-fabrication equipment and started a job shop to complement its powder-coating operations, it hit a prolonged growth spurt. This strategic repositioning of MNdustries reflects the vision its president, Mike Nance. Since the late 1990s, MNdustries the job shop has grown from one standalone laser to two fully automated Mitsubishi 3015LVP-35CFXS with MSCII sheetmetal-storage towers-with a third system on its way. The automated LVP laser-cutting machines eliminated the need for non-revenue-producing operator salaries, while delivering the 1000 in./min. cutting speeds Nance requested.
