摘要

Carbon nanotubes were prepared by low temperature thermal CVD with the combination of preheating acetylene gas and using binary catalysts of patterned Co/Ti film, which has been described in our previous paper. The catalysts of Co/Ti with thicknesses of 4 nm/10 nm were prepared by an electron-beam evaporation method and then were patterned by photolithography to 10 × 10μm{sup}2 islands separated each other by 20 μm. In order to coat TiC on the CNT surfaces, the CNTs were firstly annealed at 700℃ for 10 min in a He atmosphere and then coated with Ti film of 1 nm, 3 nm and 10 nm, respectively by electron beam evaporation. Furthermore, the formation of TiC was performed by the 700℃ CVD process by introducing the acetylene gas of 15 sccm for 1 min. At last, the field emissions from the samples before and after TiC coating have been measured at a pressure of 10{sup}(-6) torr by a diode-type measurement system, with an electrodes distance of 150μm.
