This paper outlines the experience of one land developer in planning advanced stormwater management facilities for a new subdivision. The impact of these facilities upon conventional subdivision design is reviewed. More importantly difficulties in obtaining municipal approvals for the project because of local reticence to adopt innovative drainage approaches are described.
