摘要

The Feilaifeng 飛来峰 (The Mountain that Came Flying) is located in front of the Lingyin monastery 靈隠,on the outskirts of the city of Hangzhou. The hill lieswithin a wider area that, amongst other well-known sites, includes the aforementioned Lingyin monastery and the three temples of Tianzhu 天竺. The topography of the mountain, actually a hill of medium height covered with dense vegetation, presents natural formations of karstic rocks and a series of communicating caverns, set at the foot of the hill facing northeast. Amongst these formations of natural rocks, the most impressive are the ones situated on the northern hillside. Being located next to a Buddhist monastery, the mountain hosts many Buddhist sculptures, carved inside the caverns as well as on the northern hillside.
