On March 29, PMA's lobbyists met with officials from the Chinese government to discuss concerns over currency manipulation, intellectual-property theft, illegal subsidies and other trade violations. Zhu Guangyao, assistant minister at the Ministry of Finance, led the Chinese delegation. PMA stated unequivocally that until China can present a concrete plan to enact free-market reforms, particularly realignment of its currency, it will continue to push for passage of forceful legislation in Congress to address the current crisis. PMA's lobbyists explained to the minister that the United States and China are undeniably partners in trade, but, as partners, a better understanding of what reforms China is willing to make, and when, is needed.
