Real-time job-shop management software from Realtrac, Irvine, CA, provides additional flexibility for a job shop to schedule by machines and employees in addition to workcenters. In many shops, dissimilar machines are assigned to a single functional department such as finishing. Sometimes it is important for shop supervisors to see a load for an entire department in order to schedule and assign work to specific machines and employees. Realtrac offers the ability to enter on the job router the machine or employee to be used for an operation and then have it displayed on a work cell/department dispatch list. The new scheduling concept was developed in conjunction with Fralo Industries, a Realtrac user and metal fabricator in Erie, PA.
