Welding and bonding of aerospace structures isreceiving renewed interest because of increasing internationalpressure to reduce manufacturing costs and lead-times, andbecause of improvements in joining processes.This paper introduces the current use of joiningin aircraft manufacturing and describes improvements intechniques that are leading to the current drive to introducemore welding technology into the manufacturing process.
