Foremost Farms USA continues to reinvest in the upper Midwest. Don Storhoff, the recently retired president of Foremost Farms USA once said that the only way the Midwest would stay competitive in the changing dairy industry was to "knock the rust offthe infrastructure." In fact, that idea has been somewhat of a guiding principle for the Baraboo, Wis. cooperative since it was formed through the consolidation of two Wisconsin cooperatives in 1995, and it continues today under the leader-ship of President Dave Fuhrmann. Foremost Farms which operates 24 plants, and has annual sales of 1.3 billion dollar, continues to reinvest in plant upgrades and product development while finding more efficient ways to process and sell dairy products.
