How and why alcohol interacts with the liver remains a fundamental question. The main approaches to these interactions described in recent publications are classified into several more specific questions concerning the hepatotoxicity of alcohol, alcohol metabolism, alcohol-induced hepatocyte necrosis and fibrosis, and treatment of alcoholic liver disease.
