The surface of theRhabdopleurazooid is ciliated. The cilia of the cephalic shield and tentacles have paddle-like swellings of the shaft. These swellings are usually about 0.6–1 μm in diameter and most frequently found in the distal 1–2 μm of the ciliary shaft.
