A dielectric resonator combining two cylindrical dielectrics of different material and height and excited by a coaxial probe is considered. The effect of the antenna parameters, such as the ratio of the height and radius of the dielectrics and the effect of the probe length, are investigated. Analysis of the antenna is performed numerically using the method of moments (MoM) and verified by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Agreement between the two methods is excellent. The performance of the antenna on a cellular-communication system is also considered.
