Under the globalized economy, international competitiveness is thekey factor for the continuation of enterprise. Therefore, industryneeds more innovative tech- nologies. Furthermore, it is imperativeto develop corporate strategies, manufactur- ing technologies andadvanced products so as to meet the stringent requirements of today'sglobal issues such as the explosion of populations, food and energyshort- ages and environmental pollution. Since these problems cannotbe solved by engi- neers and natural scientists alone, but should besolved by the introduction of new science which is integrated withcultural and social science too, industry seriously expectsacademia's collaboration.
