Lipoprotein lipase, hepatic lipase, and lecithincolon; cholesterol acyltransferase have coordinated enzymatic roles in lipoprotein metabolism. New evidence suggests that the lipases are multifunctional proteins that are able to mediate lipoprotein binding and uptake. The importance of all three enzymes in the control of lipoprotein metabolism can be explored in the future by using the newly generated transgenic animals
