Its latest supply-demand report on the Americas is a detailed study of post-consumer PET bottle recycling activities throughout the region. In practice, PET bottle recycling has developed in a limited number of countries where there is sufficient critical mass, in terms of bottles available for collection, to support viable processing activities. Apart from the U.S., these countries are Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. Limited and sporadic collection and processing activities have occurred in other countries, from Tobago to Paraguay.
