To welcome the new year, here's a snapshot of recent OSHA and workplace torts in the news. An ironworker employed by a steel construction company suffered a fatal 90-ft. fall during the construction of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The Nevada-OSHA Agency (NOSHA) issued 56,000 dollars proposed willful penalty citation for two alleged violations of the federal OSHA construction fall-protection regulation. Under the Nevada-OSHA statute, penalty and citation classifications are nearly identical to those of the federal OSHA.
