James Harold Kenyon (1841-1891) of Sussex, England, began working in the funeral industry late in the 19th century. He opened his own business, JH Kenyon, in London's Edgware Road in 1880; since then, mainly with descendants of fames Kenyon in charge, the company has flourished, celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2005.In 1906, when a major boat-train derailment occurred in Salisbury, England, the H Kenyon firm was called upon to retrieve, identify, and embalm the bodies of victims-nearly all US citizens-before repatriating them for burial.
