Last month's column contained a rather provocative statement: "The laws of nature override everything humans think they know about sheet-metal forming." The fundamental problem is that many areas of sheetmetal forming have not been sufficiently documented, studied or understood to appreciate fully the laws that control what happens inside forming dies. A few years ago, nature and humans battled over the fundamental concepts of draw beads and how to troubleshoot them. The final score: Nature 1, Humans 0.
