Businesses are now reliant on Information Technology. Computers and the information they impart is a mainstay for businesses. Very few businesses can survive without utilizing computers or information technology. Information technology is constantly changing with bigger-faster products and solutions available for businesses to use. How will businesses adapt to the new technologies of the future? One cannot look into the future without first looking into the past. Years ago, gold was found in the western frontier of America. From that a craze was started with many people moving west into the frontier many unprepared. Fast-forward to the late 1990's, the Internet a new information frontier is rising into the conscience of the mainstream culture. People are moving into this frontier with the same type of ignorance that they had in the late 1800's. Business scrambled to change to meet this rave. Then the boom dried up just like the gold in the 1800's. What was left? In the 1800's, it was the large mines that waited and bought up the land at cheap rates and used their large machinery to mine the gold. In the late 1990's and early 2000's, it was much the same; many companies created in the boom dried up, now only the large companies that have changed their ways to meet the new information age have survived. The large corporations bought the little companies with good ideas that were running out of money.
