The effect of the SiC whiskers on the microstructure developedduring sever plastic deformation and subsequent annealing isexamined. Particular attention was paid to the role of the SiCw onthe recystallization behavior and grain size in Al-30/100SiCwcomposite. The heavily deformed structure and microstructuralevolution during annealing at different temperatures of the compositewas compared with that of the bulk aluminum. It was shown that themicrostructure of as-deformed monolithic aluminum is quite differentfrom that of the composite matrix.
