The futures in computers and information outlined in this paper will probably have the most impact on my personal life. The area of telecommunicating with distant people from my home is exciting in my opinion and will enable me to have conversations with far-away relatives. Of course, this is contingent upon these systems having an affordable price. The virtual imaging area is one that will also affect many people's lives. It will have potentially the greatest impact in the medical field benefiting anyone who uses a doctor. Its usefulness is shown in the aid these technologies give doctors performing operations or doing basic diagnoses. The only way the information Marketplace (including the tools for its access) can be beneficial for all people for its technology to be affordable and have demonstrable value. These technologies will more than likely affect my company in a number of ways. First of all, groupwork/telework will allow multiple users to work on documents simultaneously, enable videoconferencing, and allow better remote access to those who telecommute. This is the area that will have the largest impact on my organization. The other way is the fingerprint or encryption technologies. These can be used to control employee access to different areas of the company, as a way to keep track of employees (similar to a time card), or determine which defendants have checked in at the office. Most of the virtual reality or bodynet-type tools will not be necessary in my office, at least for the foreseeable future.
