It has been demonstrated that the prop- erties of gas-sensingmaterials can be improved by the use of nano-sized semi- conductingoxide powders. It has been shown that acceptable conductance- changeperformance, along with improved selectivity, can be achieved bycontrol- ling the microstructure of the oxide through chemicalcontrol of the powders and the oxide composition. Additives can beused to control both the conduc- tance in air and the microstructureitself.
