To deliver to the metalforming market a simplified and economical material flat-tener, Littell International, Inc., Addison, IL, has developed the Flex-Roll Feeder. The machine, according to Eilert Bruns, Littell director of engineering, has a minimum number of rolls and components, and employs electronic control technology to provide automatic material penetration to achieve the desired level of flatness. Operators may not need to make initial'setup and penetration adjustments at all, according to Bruns. The feeder consists of a set of entry pinch rolls; the flex roll (unpow-ered) positioned between the entry rolls and a set of exit pinch rolls; an unpowered overshot roll next to the exit set of pinch rolls; and a main motor and drive to power the entry and exit pinch rolls.
