SummaryA single dose double‐blind crossover study was performed to compare the efficacy of nedocromil sodium (4 mg) and placebo administered from pressurized aerosols against bronchoconstriction induced by the inhalation of ultrasonically nebulized distilled water (fog) in twelve asthmatic subjects. Neither active nor placebo pre‐treatment produced any significant change in baseline FEV1and SRaw. Nedocromil sodium significantly attenuated fog‐induced falls in FEV1(P<0.001) and increased specific airways resistance (SRaw,P<0.01).
