摘要

A new technique is developed for directly measuring the debond length associated with a bridged matrix crack in a ceramic composite. The fiber-bridged matrix cracks are created by loading the composite in both monotonic and cyclic stresses. The fiber-matrix interface crack growth associated with interface debonding and sliding is directly measured. Theoretical formulations are developed to relate the debond length measurement (DLM) to the applied stress and fiber bridging stress. These results on the DLMs of a bridged crack are used to determine the bridging stress profile and crack growth resistance of composites.
