摘要

The Oregonator, a simple but surprisingly successful model of the complex chemistry of the oscillating Belousovndash;Zhabotinskii reaction, has for years been criticized for the manner in which it accounts for the regeneration of bromide ions. In response to recent objections raised by Noszticzius, Farkas, and Schelly, Noyes has revised the Oregonator model so that the regeneration of Brminus;is now attributed to the oxidation of organic compounds by HOBr. In this paper the kinetic equations of the revised Oregonator are presented in dimensionless form, and it is shown that the equations admit limit cycle solutions of relaxation type as long as a certain dimensionless ratio of rate constants lies within a relatively narrow interval.
