NKK Corp., Japan, recently delivered 2,200 tons of its weathering steel to be used in five road bridges under construction in coastal areas in western Japan. According to NKK, this is one of the most massive uses of weathering steel in bridge construction projects in the world, stretching 442 m in length with a maximum width of 32.2 m.In other news, NKK's 780 N/mm~2 (80 kg/mm~2) grade high tensile strength cold rolled steel sheet that excels in press formability has been adopted for part of the seat frames in Toyota Motor Co.'s sports utility vehicle, RAV-4. This will achieve overall seat weight reductions.
