Amid ongoing delays in major new pipeline projects(e.g.Keystone XL,Trans Mountain),crude-by-rail(CBR)movements out of Alberta have been on the rise in recent months and are expected to increase further as we move through H2.CBR shipments in June were at the highest monthly level since Jan.Ceiiovus Energy Inc.also said last month that it was on track to ramp up CBR movements to 100K b/d by year-end,while Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd.expects CBR shipments to rise by 20 during this quarter versus 2Q.Additionally,some oilsands producers are investigating building Diluent Removal Units, which reduce or eliminate diluent and produce whole bitumen that is non-hazardous,can be shipped safely via rail, and could have a cost advantage when shipped on larger trains(100 or more cars).
